Lifestyle Medicine


The role of Lifestyle Medicine is rooted in preventive healthcare, focusing on guiding patients to optimize their nutrition, exercise, mental health, and sleep within the context of their health diagnoses. Our approach involves collaborating with patients over several weeks to establish and attain realistic goals through personalized appointments and community activities. Volunteers play a crucial role in obtaining health histories, presenting cases, and documenting information in the patient's medical record. This position provides volunteers with valuable insights into preventive health, emphasizing effective communication tailored to patients' understanding, ultimately delivering holistic care to each individual.


Directors

Claire Lee

Claire is from Buford, Georgia and graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. She has been part of the Avicenna Lifestyle Medicine team since 2021. She is currently a third year medical student and has interest in  improving health care access and quality, mental health, and patient relationships to help individuals create positive, lasting behavioral changes.

Alexis Watson

Alexis is from Moorestown, New Jersey, and graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. She has been part of the Avicenna Lifestyle Medicine team since 2023. Currently, a second-year medical student, Alexis is dedicated to improving access to quality health care and promoting patient education and health literacy within the community through lifestyle medicine education and advocacy.

Kristy Lin

Kristy is from Northern California and graduated from University of California, Irvine with bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Biological Sciences. She has been part of the Avicenna Lifestyle Medicine Team since 2023. She is currently a second year medical student who is passionate about improving healthcare access, providing nutritional care, and working with patients across different backgrounds.

Vedant Jain

Vedant is from San Diego, California with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Cellular Biology. He has been part of the Avicenna Lifestyle Medicine team since 2022. He is currently a third year medical student and has an interest in nutrition and providing accessible access to healthy food.
